AN 341 - Commercial Horse Production and Training


3 Credits

Course Description: The lecture portion of this course develops the skills to select and train a horse for the purpose of ranch work. Developing and utilizing an analytical method for selecting prospects for an equine business venture are discussed. Students gain an understanding of breed associations and develop an understanding of the commercial western horse industry. Gaining a deeper understanding of basic training equipment and tack is learned. Students utilize knowledge pertaining to nutrition in order to make informed decisions and minimize costs when able.
